Pregnancy Update - Week 16

What’s Happening This Week: Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length . Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too.

We had a doctor's appointment this week and it went really well. Heartbeat is 144 and all tests came back clear. Getting blood taken was a little scary. As soon as it was done I immediately wanted the results. Would they call if things were good? How long would the results take to receive? What exactly were we screening for? I'm an anxious person. :-) I just got an e-mail (gotta love technology!) with my tests results - normal! It was a quad screening and tests for things like Down syndrome. Our next appointment is at week 20 and will include the important sonogram! While we (hopefully) won't be finding out the gender at this appointment, we are still VERY excited to see the baby! Jarrod was giddy when we scheduled that appointment.

How far along? 16 weeks
Weight gain: 7 lbs.
Stretch marks? Still the ones on my hips, but that's all.
Sleep: Some nights are better than others. I've found that a pillow between my knees works really well.
Food cravings: Sweets - cookies, caramel frappuccinos, cake, etc.
Labor Signs: None.
What I miss: This week I really miss lunch meat. I'd love to have a nice turkey sandwich from Jimmy John's.
What I am looking forward to: Feeling the baby move more. I feel little things here and there, but it's sporadic and goes as quickly as it comes. I'm also so excited to see the baby at our next ultrasound!
Anxieties: Remaining healthy and keeping the baby healthy.
