I cannot believe our little man is old enough for his first haircut. Granted he's only 5 months old, but given the hair his parents have, I'm really not surprised. I'd wanted to trim his hair for days before I finally got Jarrod on board. We weren't looking for anything drastic, just cleaning things up a bit. Wesley's hair had begun to curl around his ears and stick out like horns. It didn't lay flat on top no matter what I did and was getting VERY long. Basically every time we left the house I was embarrassed by his ragamuffin hair.
So on a sunny Saturday morning we put the little man in his bumbo chair and Jarrod got out the clippers. We agreed on what we were going to cut and went at it! Jarrod took about an inch off all the way around. No one is going to mistake him for a girl now!
It's amazing how much hair we took off...
Look at all of that sweet baby hair... Jarrod and I (and Wesley...) were brave through the hair-cutting experience. We didn't cry and held strong to the goal - a good haircut for our little man.
This is our first "after" shot. We immediately got Wesley in the bath to make sure everything looked good. I didn't capture a photo of the real after on my camera, but did get this awesome one with my phone.
Our sweet little man looks so grown up with his big boy haircut! It's still very long for a 5 month old. In fact, most people at church the next day made comments about how much hair he has, not knowing we'd cut it off the day before! I love the cut because now his hair isn't the first thing you see. He's a beautiful little boy with tame hair now.

he looks SO much like jared in that first picture! i'm glad the first cut was a success - the younger you start the less traumatic it is when they are toddlers. I hated doing toddler hair especially with the parents around. They freak the kids out more than anything else. :) The best little boy I had was about 4 and had been getting haircuts since 6 months old... he knew what was going on and I have recommended that to parents ever since! :)
ReplyDeleteGood to know, Skye! I am glad we did it at home, I think somewhere else would have been more traumatic for everyone. He didn't mind it at all and using the clippers vs. scissors was a good idea for Wesley too. I'm glad to know this means he might be a good hair-cut-ee someday!
ReplyDeleteBoth his long hair and the new haircut are adorable! Good for you to stay strong :) The last pic is priceless! It's gonna be a long time till Camon's haircuts need to start though :)
