Of course I was also thinking about Jarrod and tried to make at least a few of my choices gluten-free. We had 3 events to bring desserts to so I decided to make 4 desserts and split them up for each event.
Here's what I decided to make:
This is one I've written about before. It's one of my absolute favorites - it's good enough to have the oven on for 30-45 minutes. I actually made it with my weekly batch of bread, so it worked out perfectly. It's fantastic and easy to make gluten-free by swapping out the yellow cake mix for Betty Crocker's Gluten Free box mix. Unfortunately on our weekly shopping trip, our store was out of gluten-free yellow cake mix, so we went with the regular box, but I've done this one gluten free before and it turned out fantastic.
These are no-bake cookies but I've never made them before. I decided to give them a go. I wouldn't call them amazing, but they were decent. More on that later...
Just as easy as rice krispy treats, but with a different feel. Absolutely delicious. Actually, the hardest part of these was not eating the oreos!
I've had this on my pinboard for months. I absolutely love all things cookie dough. I am always worried about candy thermometers and making sure the sugar gets hot enough, etc.
I made all of these desserts (along with baby food for Wesley, 2 loaves of bread, smoothies, and a few dinners for the week) in a baking/cooking/messing up the kitchen frenzy! I placed the desserts in an assortment on 4 plates to bring them to 4 different celebrations over the next few days. Once I did that, I realized that I might need another dessert to accompany one plate to ensure that there'd be plenty of dessert for a party. So, back to the drawing board! I'll share that dessert this week as well...once I figure out what I'm going to do!
I'll be sharing pictures, recipes, and my opinions about these yummy sweets this week!
How do you stay cool? What are some of your summer go-to recipes?
